SUSTAINABILITY
In 2018, “We didn't know everything back then, but we discovered a problem.” Passersby hurried along the streets, people of all kinds carrying various tote bags. At supermarkets and greengrocers, shoppers preferred plastic bags for their groceries. On average, a plastic bag was used for just 12 minutes (from the store to the trash), yet it lingered on Earth for 500 years. We didn't want our packaging to become jellyfish in a sea turtle's eyes or the culprit clogging city storm drains. That's why in 2018, we made that difficult decision: even if it meant higher costs, we would completely abandon traditional plastic bags and switch to reusable, naturally biodegradable canvas totes.
In 2019, we asked ourselves: If our customers must take something home, what should it be? Certainly not another plastic bag destined to sleep in a landfill for 500 years.
We launched our first Organic Canvas Tote. Crafted from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, it's sturdy enough to carry your weekly groceries yet soft enough to accompany you through every everyday moment.
2022 - The Leap from “Eco-Friendly” to ‘Sustainable’
This year, we gained a deeper understanding of “sustainability”: it's not just about “avoiding pollution,” but also about “recyclability and giving back.” We formally integrated sustainable development into our brand's core strategy, implementing end-to-end upgrades across materials, design, production, and packaging.
In materials, we extensively adopted RPET recycled fabrics (made from recycled plastic bottles) and organic cotton, increasing eco-friendly fabric usage to 60%. In design, we launched modular bag styles that are easy to disassemble and repair, with some components replaceable individually to extend product lifecycles. For packaging, we fully transitioned to biodegradable kraft paper and corn fiber materials, completely eliminating plastic packaging and rejecting excessive packaging.
Simultaneously, we launched the “Old Bag Recycling Program,” collecting unused Landscape Bags from users. After refurbishment and repair, these bags are donated to charitable organizations, ensuring each bag continues to serve a purpose rather than becoming waste. This year, we have truly achieved the leap from “single-point environmentalism” to “end-to-end sustainability.”
In 2026, our journey toward sustainability continues without end.
Looking ahead, we plan to achieve 100% use of renewable eco-friendly materials within 3-5 years, establishing a “zero-waste” production base. We will deepen our commitment to recycling and reusing old bags, giving new life to more unused handbags. Simultaneously, we will invest more R&D resources to explore materials and techniques that are more environmentally friendly, durable, and aesthetically designed, seamlessly blending sustainability with quality and beauty.
The story of Landscape Bag is one of travel and passion, but above all, it is a story of guardianship and responsibility. From a single seed to a forest; from an initial attempt to a steadfast commitment, we firmly believe: every small act of environmental stewardship can coalesce into a powerful force for protecting nature.
